THE search is on for 150 bikes owners want to give away for families and children to borrow.

Vehicle leasing firm Synergy Automotive, has set a new target after becoming a Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries donation station last year when 100 bikes were given.

The idea is the bikes can be borrowed by children and their families for free. The scheme is led by Welcome to Yorkshire, Chief Executive Sir Gary Verrity said: " Our Bike Libraries programme helps turn dreams into a reality by providing opportunities to borrow and ride bikes for free. I’m delighted to see Synergy continuing its ambitious campaign, they’re going from strength to strength and helping the local community."

Synergy is based in Harrogate but will collect bikes from the surrounding area. Director Paul Parkinson said: "We were so delighted with the fantastic response to our initial campaign we’ve set higher targets to help make a difference to even more children and their families."
