SOME top sporting customers coupled with exposure on television are helping a North Yorkshire company deliver a significant service to the event industry.

Formed in 2010 selling good quality and cost effective portable signage products, Nuwave Display became a production company in 2013. Coupled with a move to Colburn near Catterick, the company also expanded their range of products. These include: exhibition display items, popup event bins, banners, flags, and other custom-made branded products.

As supplier to many top sporting outfits, their products are often seen on television. Director and sports enthusiast, Julian Smythe-Osbourne explained: “ I love sport, especially football. We tend to supply the community side of the business as they need put things up quickly and easily.

“We had supplied Burton Albion and when our contact moved to Aston Villa they bought hand-held flags for the local derby against Nottingham Forrest.

“I was really pleased Nuwave’s products could be clearly seen on the television coverage.”

Since branching out as a production company they have shifted their emphasis to printing on textile; investing in a 2.6m wide textile printer. Nuwave do still produce vinyl products but do not sell foreign imports; all the banners, flags and other branded promotional items are made at their premises in North Yorkshire.

Mr Smythe-Osbourne said: “We produce bespoke items that can be used again and are good value.

“The advantages of textile products are: they look better, are environmentally- friendly, the ink is water-based not solvent and textile doesn’t scratch. It also light and easy to transport.”

Their latest high-profile sporting customer is the women’s RFU and their products are used by: the X Factor, Welcome to Yorkshire, and regularly seen on a television advertisement for the chance of winning a dream car with BOTB. In the New Year, Nuwave will expand their sales team to cover the London and South of England.

Despite uncertainty facing UK businesses with the looming Brexit, Mr Smythe-Osbourne feels they will weather it, as they sell mostly to the home market.

He said: “ I love this business and I am excited by the future and quite confident.”
