A SOCIAL knitting group used the suffragettes as their inspiration to create a host of decorations over Christmas.
The ‘Barkers Knit and Natter’ group meet once a week to sit and knit whilst having a chat over a cup of coffee.
Over the last five years they have supported various heart and cancer charities including those that Charles Barker, managing director of Barkers, has been involved with and also the Hambleton FoodShare.
This year they knitted tree decorations in purple, green and white in honour of the Suffragettes 100 year celebrations – when the first British women won the right to vote.
The decorations adorned a tree in Barkers Kitchen Café and the knitters are happy to sell their creations and donate all proceeds to charity.
The group meets every Friday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
