A MUSEUM has retained its status as a quality visitor attraction after scoring highly on its assessment.

Kirkleatham Museum & Grounds is also well regarded by the public, with 93 per cent of its Trip Advisor reviews rated as either 'excellent' or 'very good'.

Visit England has allowed it to retain its accreditation following the inspection, which showed customer service was good, the car par was excellent and the range of content in the museum was broad and relevant to the local area.

Councillor Carl Quartermain, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council’s cabinet member for culture, tourism and communications, said: “Kirkleatham Museum & Grounds is a real jewel in our crown here in Redcar and Cleveland.

“It’s hugely popular with locals and visitors from outside the area. The staff work really hard to maintain their high standards and I know they won’t be resting on their laurels. They’ll already be hard at work looking to not only maintain but improve the museum’s offer."

Kirkleatham Museum is home to several permanent displays and hosts regular special exhibitions such as this year’s popular Brick Dinos and a display explaining the Sirius Minerals polyhalite project.
