DETECTIVES have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an armed robbery in Darlington.
The incident happened on Monday, November 19 at 2.25pm at P&J’s Convenience Store, in Brougham Street.
The suspect threatened a woman, who was working alone in the shop at the time, with a machete before making off in the direction of Cumberland Street, into North Park, with a small amount of cash.
He was wearing a black balaclava, latex gloves, a green jacket, blue trousers and black and white Nike trainers.
Detective Constable Helen Hudson, from Darlington CID, said: “It is a disgrace that a lone woman was subjected to such a terrifying ordeal while simply doing her job.
“Thankfully, the victim wasn’t injured, but she was understandably left extremely shaken by the incident.
“We have been working hard to trace the suspect and would appeal for anyone who may recognise the male in the footage to get in touch with us.
“Likewise if anyone witnessed the robbery, or saw anyone acting suspiciously at the time, please call us on 101, quoting crime reference number CRI00163155.”
