A COLLECTION of images which capture the essence of County Durham has just been published in book form.
From timeless villages to heather clad hills and waterfalls, ancient market towns and proud castles, County Durham in Photographs by Nathan Atkinson displays the county at its best.
Nathan is originally from Stockton-on-Tees and has been taking photographs for more than 20 years.
Although his landscape photographs are stunning, the 40-year-old had great difficulty locating one particular image he was happy with.
He said: "I was looking for a headshot of me for publicity purposes and it took me hours.
"Sadly I’m not as photogenic as the landscapes I take."
This is Nathan's first book. His second will focus on Northumberland.
County Durham in Photographs by Nathan Atkinson (Amberley, £16.99) is available at all good local bookshops in the region.
