THE Conservative candidate for Darlington has been selected ahead of the next general election.
Peter Gibson, who has been a solicitor in the North East for 17 years, was selected by members of the Darlington Conservative Association.
A parliamentary candidate in Redcar in 2017, Peter will campaign to become the first Conservative MP for Darlington since 1992.
He said his campaign will focus on improving transport infrastructure in the town, supporting the town’s Memorial Hospital and delivering a successful Brexit
“I am thrilled to be selected as the Conservative candidate for Darlington,” he said. “I have the energy, commitment, resilience and drive to win and be a community champion.
“The Mayor for Tees Valley, Ben Houchen, has shown the positive effect a local Conservative from the Tees Valley can have on the town and I am keen to work with him here.
“Only the Conservatives can build a country that works for everyone with a stronger, fair economy and a more caring society.
“I want to be Darlington’s MP to ensure people here can see their hard work recognised and rewarded so they can lead fulfilling, happy lives."
