A NORTH-East council has secured one of the RSPCA’s most prestigious awards for its work with stray dogs.
Stockton Borough Council's animal welfare team have received the Platinum PawPrint award at the charity’s Community Animal Welfare Awards.
This is the highest RSPCA accolade a local authority can receive – qualifying authorities must retain the RSPCA’s ‘Gold’ status for five years.
Councillor Steve Nelson, the council’s cabinet member for access, communities and community safety, said: “I am incredibly proud of our animal welfare officers who are celebrating the highest award we have ever received.”
