HORSES were trotted down the High Street of an ancient trading port as part of the traditional fair celebrations.
Yarm Fair ran from Thursday to Saturday, with the flashing of the horses ritual on Saturday a key part of the festivities.
Thrill-seekers from all over the region visit the fair every year for the adrenaline-pumping rides.
And families enjoy rides for younger children as well as stalls and food outlets.
The ancient fair, which is celebrating its 650th year, was this year organised by the Showmen's Guild who have taken over from Yarm Town Council as operator.
The fair is one of the oldest in the country and is seen as an integral part of the town's history.
There was controversy this year as residents who live along and behind the High Street were banned from driving to their homes during the event amid terrorism fears
