A WOMEN'S fitness coach is launching a new exercise class designed for mothers who want to lose some of their baby weight.

Fit 2 Push is a series of classes for mothers with babies made up of exercises ranging from power walking, light jogging and resistance - all while pushing their babies in pushchairs.

Emma Campbell-Critchley is a qualified coach who runs other women's fitness sessions in Darlington.

She set up Sisters R Doing It, a women's running group that spans across Darlington and other areas in the Tees Valley, and wanted to expand her sessions to women who have recently had children.

Mrs Campbell-Critchley said the aim of Fit 2 Push is to get women with babies back on their feet while solving the problem of childcare.

She said: "The health benefits of exercise are many and it's a great opportunity to get out and meet new people without needed childcare.

"There is a cafe with baby change facilities and plenty of parking around the park."

The group meets on Wednesdays at 10am under the clock tower in Darlington's South Park with the next session on October 24.

Mrs Campbell Critchley added: "All abilities are welcome and the session can be adjusted to suit all.

"There are many benefits to exercising, especially outdoors, including improving cardio fitness, burning baby fat, improving posture and bone density as well as lifting your mood. You’ll also meet lovely new friends with babies too."

The classes cost £2.50 per session or £10 for a block of 5.
