THE Richmond branch of The Royal British Legion will be opening a Remembrance Poppy Stall in the town's indoor market on Saturday, October 27, from 10am to 4pm daily.

It will sell poppies, wreaths, badges and other Remembrance items. Pre-ordered wreaths can also be collected.

The gazebo will also be in the Market Square on the three Saturdays prior to November 11, and many shops and businesses in the town will have the usual collecting tins.

The Richmond Remembrance Parade will start at the Town Hall at 9.30am, St Mary’s Church at 10am, and Friary Gardens memorial at 11am.

The Service of the Crosses, which traditionally takes place at 11am on November 11 will be incorporated with the main service at the Friary Gardens memorial with the laying of crosses following immediately after the wreath laying.

Crosses will be available from the poppy stall.

This year, thanks to Richmond Town Council, it is hoped there will be 101 large poppies around the town to commemorate the 101 servicemen from Richmond killed in World War I.

Anyone who has not had a collecting tin in the past and would like one, can contact the Poppy Appeal Organiser for Richmond, Bob White, on bwhite2237@gmail.com or 07949-166505.
