A TRIO of thieves who targeted shoppers in Northallerton and towns throughout the UK have been jailed for a total of ten years.

It follows a lengthy nationwide investigation involving ten police forces, including North Yorkshire, which was led by officers from Humberside Police.

Piotr Molda, 45, from Westbourne Avenue, Hull was given five years jail for conspiracy to steal, homeless Anna Majewska, 42, received three years for 19 theft offences and Patryk Molda, 23, also of no fixed abode got two years for six theft offences.

The trio targeted elderly shoppers in supermarkets and shops between September 2017 and April 2018.

In North Yorkshire they stole from shoppers in Northallerton’s Wilkinson’s store, Bon Marche in Scarborough and Sainsbury’s in Harrogate.

The trio were sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court this week where Judge Simon Jack described their offences as ‘appalling’.

He added that the average age of the victims was 76 or 77-years-old and that the crooks ‘made a business out of elderly vulnerable people’.
