JOBSEEKERS are now able to apply for jobs further afield without the worry of travel costs.
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council has partnered with rail provider Northern Railway on a six-month trial scheme to provide job seekers with free train travel to attend job interviews in the region.
Councillor Craig Hannaway, the council's cabinet member for children, said: “We need to remove the barriers preventing people from entering the world of work and one of those barriers is travel.
“Someone from Redcar may have been put off applying for a job in Saltburn because of the cost of attending the interview.
“Job seekers can now apply for the job knowing their train fare to the interview is covered."
