LANDMARKS in Richmondshire and Hambleton have turned pink and blue this week to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Both Richmondshire and Hambleton councils are honouring the work of baby loss charities by changing the lighting on the Friary Tower in Richmond and the Civic Centre in Northallerton for this week.

It is part of a campaign set up by an All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) to highlight the devastation of child loss.

Councillors answered a call by the APPG urging building owners across the country to light them pink and blue.

Hambleton District Council Leader, Councillor Mark Robson, said: “Baby loss can affect anyone at any time so we are delighted to be able to support this campaign by lighting up the civic centre

“This is the first time we have turned the spotlight on the civic centre but we hope that as people pass through Northallerton they will think about the work these charities do and the devastating effect baby loss has on people’s lives.”

MPs and Peers founded the APPG on Baby Loss to focus on policy and improve clinical care.
