DOZENS of people united to raise charity funds in Richmondshire’s first Memory Walk.

More than 50 people took part in the walk organised by the Richmondshire Dementia Action Alliance Group.

It took place in and around Coronation Park in Catterick Garrison to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The two-kilometre walk followed a Richmondshire Walking for Health route prepared by local walking stalwart, William Gedye and was fully accessible.

It was opened by Richmondshire’s dedicated Admiral Nurse Cath Peach and the District Council’s Dementia Member and RDAA member Councillor Lawrence Grose.

Councillor Grose welcomed everyone to the walk which the group hopes will be established as an annual event in the walking and fundraising calendar.

Richmondshire’s Dementia Action Alliance group is working towards the district becoming a dementia-friendly community.

The steering group meets once a month and is available to offer support and advice.
