Witness appeal

A LIGHT bar was removed and stolen from a wagon parked off Ainderby Road in Northallerton. It happened between 8.30am and 4.20pm last Friday. On the same day, at around 5.30am, eight yellow containers containing cooking fat were taken from outside a pub in Sandhutton. And some time between 11pm on Friday and 7.30am the following morning, a vehicle on Hilton Close, Brompton, was doused in foam from a fire extinguisher. If anyone has information of these crimes or saw any suspicious activity in the areas at the relevant times, report to the police on 101.

Naughty monks

‘MONKS Behaving Badly’ is the title of a talk and slide show by Rod Jenkinson at Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe Village Hall this Thursday. Mr Jenkinson will talk about the history, influence and behaviour, good and bad, of the church and clergy from medieval times to the present day. It starts at 7.30pm and entry is £5 to include tea/coffee and biscuits.

Hare coursing

POLICE have issued Dispersal Orders to three men suspected of hare coursing in Thirsk. Officers stopped the men who were reported as acting suspiciously with dogs in a Thirsk field. They were given orders banning them from being in Hambleton.

Tools stolen

TOOLS were stolen from a shed on Vicars Croft in Northallerton. The shed was broken into some time between September 6 and September 20. If anyone has any information of this crime or any suspicious activity in the area, report to the police on 101 quoting incident number: 12180175990

History talk

AT the next meeting of Bedale Archaeology and History Society, on October 2, Chris Rock, Chairman of the Battle of Stamford Bridge Heritage Society, will give an illustrated talk entitled Stamford Bridge 1066 – Harold Godwinson’s final victory. The Society meets in Bedale Hall at 7.30pm on the first Tuesday of the month. Membership is £12 per year and visitors are always welcome for £2.
