WORK to build a new crematorium in Stockton has started.
The crematorium, on the former Blakeston School playing fields on Junction Road, will be a modern single-storey, state-of-the-art building with two service chapels as well as ample on-site car parking. The crematorium building will be surrounded by tranquil and attractive landscaped gardens of remembrance.
Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton Borough Council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “This will be a very impressive facility. Work to create the entrance has progressed well and now we look forward to seeing the building take shape.”
