STREETS in Stockton have had a face-lift thanks to a community clean-up day which saw pavements cleaned, weeds pulled out, graffiti and fly-tipping removed as well as bulky waste collected.
The day, which was organised by Stockton Borough Council in partnership with housing group Thirteen, Cleveland Police and a wide range of local community, voluntary and social enterprise organisations, saw more than 20 streets in Central Stockton spruced up.
Around 40 people from across the organisations came together to lend a hand cleaning up the streets.
Councillor Mike Smith, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “We’ve all come together to lend a hand to make a real difference to the appearance of these streets. By working alongside each other we have been able to make the area around Westbourne Street and Northcote Street look tidier and cleaner too."
Thirteen’s neighbourhoods service manager, Karl Gippert, said: “We’re committed to improving neighbourhoods for our customers.
"This has been a great opportunity to begin to tackle any issues in the area.”
