FOLK, jazz and gypsy music will appeal to a wide range of music lovers at this year's Ripon International Festival in addition to the classics programme.

The bands include the ZRI Viennese Tavern Band in two different shows, Chaplin in the Jazz Age (September 22 at Masham) and At The Red Hedgehog (September 23 at Helperby).

Kathryn Tickell, Britain’s most celebrated folk musician, who plays to sold-out audiences at the BBC Proms, returns with her new show Tales and Tunes, with guest artists David Almond, storyteller, and Amy Thatcher, accordion and clog dance (September 29).

Folk duo Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage bring their intimate show of American roots and English folk music (September 20) and Eduardo Niebla, Spanish virtuoso jazz/flamenco guitarist, returns to North Yorkshire in concert with guest guitarist Matthew Robinson (September 28).

Niebla's credits include appearances at the Jaipur, Cairo, Tbilisi, Odessa and Glastonbury festivals and tours in Europe, the Baltic states and the Middle East.

Artistic director and co-founder, Janusz Piotrowicz, conducts the London Mozart Players on their first visit to Ripon in a programme of symphonies and overtures by Mozart, Mendelssohn and Beethoven at Ripon Cathedral (September 15); and Royal Northern Sinfonia, conducted by Janusz , is at the Royal Hall on October 6 to play atmospheric music – the Swan of Tuonela, Elgar’s Cello Concerto and the First Symphony of Sibelius, ensuring a memorable grand finale.
