BUDDING entrepreneurs saw their achievements go under the spotlight at the second annual Enterprising Stockton Awards.

The event was hosted by Stockton Riverside College as part of their ongoing work to integrate a culture of enterprise across the college.

The awards celebrate the achievements of both student groups testing out their entrepreneurial spirit for the first time and up and coming individuals and independent small businesses across the borough.

“It is amazing to see the enthusiasm and imagination that is being put to good use to create fantastic business ideas,” said Stockton Riverside College’s enterprise co-ordinator Laura Langridge.

Among the award winners was student theatre company, Dynamic Infinite, who took home the Social Impact Award and was also named Overall Winner.

Given the opportunity to develop their own student enterprise alongside their full-time courses the performing arts acting students launched the company last year to further develop their experience both on and off stage.

Lucy Wrigley, 18, of Billingham, said: “It has taught us so much about the industry we want to be a part of and I think the experience really is priceless.”

The Enterprising Stockton initiative brings together representatives from Teesside businesses, education providers and voluntary organisations to share expertise and ideas on ways to encourage a culture of enterprise across the region.
