A TRAVEL agency in Darlington has been named as one of the best across the UK and Ireland.
Hays Travel was selected as one of the top three stores in the North-East as part of a list of the nation's 50 best agents by the Travel Trade Gazette.
The list was announced at a function in Birmingham after an extensive judging process, which saw agents rated by tour operators and other suppliers, before being assessed by travel trade journalists.
More than 900 travel agencies and branches put themselves forward for consideration for TTG’s Top 50 Travel Agencies 2018 from which a shortlist of 95 finalists across 19 categories was devised.
Hays Travel’s head of retail, Paula Barrett, said: “I’m so proud of the team there (at Darlington) who give 100 per cent to their customers day-in, day-out.
"For them to receive national recognition like this is wonderful."
The shortlisting stage was undertaken by a panel of 60 travel suppliers including airlines, tour operators and car hire providers, who rated hopeful agencies according to their business performance, customer service and innovation.
