ONE of Stokesley’s iconic Georgian houses on Bridge Road, has become home to Stephen MacVean and his team of hairstylists.
The inside of the house has been transformed by Mike Hall, of MRH construction, who got his inspiration from the building and extended the Georgian theme to inside the property.
He said: “Immediately I came through the door, I saw its potential, that all these small cosy rooms could be redesigned to bring out the character of the place.
“It is Georgian with a contemporary feel.”
They have kept the original floorboards, and brought in stylish drapes and wallpaper, Georgian-style chairs and gilt-edged mirrors.
Mr MacVean said: “It’s got that family feel to it, it’s almost as though you are inviting people into your home, and that is what we wanted. It’s a beautiful and quirky place to work. It’s peaceful and calming with lovely colour and light.”
The opening was last Friday with clients given a tour and glass of wine.
Laura Atkinson, one of the senior stylists said. “It’s so homely, and it seems to make the service we give far more personal.”
