PUPILS have been praised for outstanding behaviour in their school’s latest Ofsted report.

Brompton Community Primary School, in Northallerton, received a "better than good" rating, with a view for the inspectors to return and confirm an 'outstanding' rating.

The report said: “Pupils enjoy learning and excellent relationships exist between staff and pupils.

“Teaching is 'better than good' because teachers have high expectations for pupils’ behaviour and academic achievement.”

Jane Byrne, headteacher since 2006, was praised in the report for “successfully creating a culture in which pupils and staff have high expectations of what they can achieve.”

She said: “I’m delighted that the hard work and dedication of everyone in school has been recognised because they are at the heart of everything that we do in school and why we continue to strive to be the best that we can be.”

The school, which has 189 pupils, was the only school in Northallerton to be open every day last week despite the snow.
