A GIANT screen, special car boot sale and cobbles free of cars are some of the schemes organisers of the Bedale welcome for the Tour de Yorkshire are planning.
It's the first time the town has been on the tour route so a special group has been set up for the event on Saturday May 5 when the cyclists are expected around 1pm. Bedale town councillors have agreed the authority will be the lead organisation. A huge screen is set to be installed in Bedale hall park with a bar in the hall and food stalls in the grounds, where there will also be a car boot sale to raise money for the staging of the event.
Parking restrictions are to be applied for from White Bear Corner to the post office on the topside and along the whole of the bottom side of the market place, with potential car parks at the sports club and elsewhere in the town.
