PEOPLE looking to lose weight and make positive lifestyle choices are being urged to "Take That Step".

Hambleton District Council's weight management service is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is overweight and in need of support to implement a healthier lifestyle.

Pauline Neilson from Thirsk joined the programme six months ago and lost 21 pounds in 12 weeks.

“The difference this programme has made in terms of my weight loss, fitness levels and well-being is amazing,” she said.

Funded by North Yorkshire County Council Public Health, Take That Step consists of a free 12-week structured weight management programme followed by a 12-week weight maintenance programme with one-to-one support by qualified professionals.

It includes weekly one-hour weight management and lifestyle workshops and open access to gym-based exercise, fitness classes, swimming activities and walking and running groups.
