A MARKET town has been selected to stage a new TV series rewarding contestants who can hide treasure.
Shine TV, which has made a range of programmes from BBC1’s MasterChef to Channel 4’s The Island with Bear Grylls, will begin filming five-part series Treasure Hunt in Thirsk in May.
The filming crew are searching for contestants, who could win a "life-changing prize", to hide treasure for several weeks from a team of investigators.
Michael Perry, assistant producer for Shine TV, said: “We chose Thirsk because of its relatively small size and it is a beautiful, rural area. There is a sense of community and we are sure people will get behind the series and we hope to encourage as many people as possible to get involved." For details, email treasurehunt@shine.tv
