THIRSK Falcons FC is to launch girls-only training sessions from Saturday.
In partnership with North Yorkshire Soccer Academy the sessions will start on November 11 from 10.30am at TAC playing fields, for ages six and up. Sessions will be initially free.
The new sessions will offer training from experienced coach and ex professional player Richard Darcy assisted by two new Falcons female coaches Gemma Calvert and Scarlett Dukes.
It is hoped they will lead to the creation of girls' teams across all age groups and ultimately a Falcons senior women’s side.
Chairman Wayne Sowden said: “The club continues to develop and work towards its vision of semi-professional football in Thirsk. Women’s football is high profile with participation continuing to grow in grassroots as well as the professional game."
