A DECADE of cutting, styling and colouring is being celebrated at a refurbished unisex salon looking to employ Darlington trainees.
W Hairdressing, based on Cockerton Green, in Darlington, was bought in 2007 by then 27-year-old Adrian Watson, who dedicated himself to building the business that employs six stylists, two assistants and Saturday staff.
To celebrate their tenth anniversary in the town, Mr Watson and his wife, Sam, have revamped the salon to create more space for the next generation of stylists.
Mr Watson, 37, said: “Originally, the plan might have been to have more than one shop, but with ten years in the business I know that to run one salon – and run it well – takes a lot more than most people would think.
“We’re in an exciting position on our tenth birthday and I’d like to thank my customers and my staff for their ongoing roles in our success.”
Mrs Watson, 39, completes admin work for the business, but is also training to become a nail technician to offer the service at the salon.
Other staff members take part in weekly training to keep up to date with industry trends, tools and techniques.
