A STAY-AT-HOME mother-of-two has developed a former cow shed into her dream sewing studio.

Harriet Ward of Scruton, near Northallerton, held the grand opening of The Sewing Ward recently.

Ms Ward has been running her seamstress and craft business from home for three years, but has long wanted premises to share some of her traditional skills.

With the help of her family, she has transformed part of an old cow shed on the farm where her father-in-law grew up.

Ms Ward said: “Opening the headquarters is the fulfilment of years of work building up my business.

“I want my studio to be a hub for people who love craft, sewing and making things.”

The Sewing Ward will offer a range of services including clothing alterations, classes, clubs and an exhibition space for her children’s clothing range, Betty and Bob.

“I cannot wait to welcome visitors to my studio. So many friends, family and customers have helped me get to this point.”
