LIBRARIES across North Yorkshire are looking for enthusiastic young people, aged between 13 and 24, to get involved in helping to run this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
The challenge is one of the county’s success stories. More than 10,000 children are expected to participate this year. Young people taking part as volunteers will be helping children to improve their chances for the future by becoming more enthusiastic readers.
Volunteers will register children onto the challenge, which has the theme Animal Agents, help them to choose books, talk to them about the books they have read and help to host library events.
To apply to be a volunteer or to find out more, visit vinspired.com, visit your local library, or email libraries@northyorks.gov.uk. The deadline is July 15.
Some of the county’s new community libraries may be unable to accept under-18s as volunteers. In that case, applicants can be directed to the nearest library at which they can volunteer.
