A DONATION from Darlington Building Society has helped spruce up Guisborough town centre.

The Society donated £150 to the Guisborough in Bloom scheme to plant flowers and is also sponsoring a flower fountain on display in the town’s Chaloner Street.

To celebrate its 160th anniversary, it is aiming to raise £160,000 for good causes across the local community, through a variety of initiatives such as Guisborough in Bloom.

Ben Harland, a customer service consultant at Darlington Building Society’s Guisborough branch, said: “It is fantastic to be able to provide Guisborough with some beautiful new flowers and planted areas that will make the town centre even more attractive to its residents and visitors.

“We will also ensure the upkeep of these areas as we wouldn’t want all the hard work from our staff and Guisborough in Bloom to go to waste.”
