YOUNGSTERS at one Darlington school will soon be learning how to save lives after receiving emergency response equipment from a North-East charity.
Pupils at the Federation of Mowden Schools accepted an invaluable Automated External Defibrillator (AED) yesterday from the Madathlon organisation, which works to provide lifesaving tools that are not otherwise available.
The AED increases survival rates of those in cardiac arrest by providing simple spoken instructions and visual guides to follow during an emergency.
Angela Taylor, Mowden Schools business manager, said: “We are very excited to be working with Madathlon on this project.
“They arrange extreme sponsored activities to raise money to provide lifesaving equipment for public places and we are organising our own fundraising day, at Mowden Schools, for Friday, October 21, to support Madathlon in their efforts.”
Madathlon hope to provide a second AED for use within the wider Mowden area.
