NATIONAL park bosses on the North York Moors are urging land managers who are looking at restoring vital boundary walls and hedgerows to apply for grants of up to £2,000.
Over eight km of hedges and 10,00 square km of drystone walling has been done with the help of the scheme for traditional boundaries.
Park authorities are hoping more managers will come forward and apply for the grant scheme. They say hedges and walls closest to public rights of way or are of particular historical and environmental interest will be given priority.
As well as keeping in stock the hedges and drystone walls, many of which date back to previous centuries provide shelter for stock, reduce soil erosion and act as a connection for different species.
Information on the scheme is on the national park website http://www.northyorkmoors.org.uk/tbs email tbs@northyorkmoors.org.uk or call 01349 772700.
