A LARGE crowd gathered for the annual Springtime Sale of Tractors, Implements and Machinery at Humbleton Farm, Burtree, Darlington, on Saturday, April 23.
A largely dry day, all be it on the chilly side, helped trade to be brisk all day with the 506 lots from 82 vendors selling to 129 buyers and achieving a clearance rate of 91 per cent. This was up six per cent on the corresponding sale last year.
The top-priced lot was an immaculate 52 plate New Holland TM140 Tractor with a 40kmh box, super steer front axle, front linkage and air brakes. It had 8,000 hours on the clock and sold for £13,000.
A 1993 registered 4wd Massey Ferguson 3115 with dynoshift sold for £5,400 and a 2004 Rolland 14-ton rear discharge muck spreader made £4,500.
A 2004 self-propelled 20 metre Frazer sprayer sold well on the day reaching £3,500 and trailers sold for £2,900 (twice) as a ten-ton Easterby grain trailer and a 25ft Bailey straw trailer went under the hammer.
The whole sale saw some very enthusiastic bidding as everything from trailers to balers and mowers to blowers exceeded many people's pre-sale expectations.
The next sale at Humbleton is scheduled for June 18.
