A FORMER international skier is working her way back to the top of her game after taking time away from the sport.

Steph Cook, from Richmond, recently came fifth in the British Championships for roller-skiing and hopes to build up her strength and fitness to go to Finland this winter to take part in international ski racing.

Miss Cook said she has been doing lots of races locally and has been doing well, and her next event will be on October 17 for a four-hour time trial on roller-skis.

She said: “It will be a tough event, I’ve never done it before but I’m looking forward to giving it a go.

“My ultimate aim is to go back to international racing this winter. I’m really excited about going back to Finland this winter, getting back on the circuit and seeing the athletes I used to race and see how fit I am.”
