A WOMAN driver was taken to hospital suffering from multiple injuries after her car flipped onto its side on the A66.

It is believed that her silver Ford Fiesta collided with wooden fencing at 10.40am this morning (Friday) on the westbound carriageway near Long Newton.

The 59-year-old was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees suffering from multiple fractures.

The incident involved only one vehicle and the road was cleared by police officers of debris by 12.45pm.
