BARNARD Castle musician Andrew Yeadon has returned to songwriting after 15 years of working for Teesdale Community Resources on the music project at the Hub in his home town.

"I’ve been involved in the musical development of more than 1,000 young people, made great friends and learned incredible skills," he said.

The growing success of the venture allowed little time to be with his family and no time for his own music and he has decided to cut his hours to part-time.

Tomorrow, at the Witham, in Barnard Castle, Yeadon gives a joint concert with classical guitarist and songwriter Paul Croft. He will perform songs spanning 25 years of writing which pull from a deep interest in philosophy and experiences such as having children, life and love, silent meditation retreats, spending the night in stone circles and travels in Asia and North Africa.

Recently, he created an experimental set of ten songs while writing an album in one evening. Now in the final stages of mixing, the album is due to be released this autumn.

Paul Croft, a professional musician for more than 40 years, will perform classical pieces and his own compositions. He specialises in classical guitar, and in the early years performed alongside Gene Pitney and Bill Haley.

Tickets cost £8 from the Witham on 01833 631107 or online at thewitham.org.uk. Doors open at 7.30pm.

Peter Bousfield takes over the running of the music project at the Hub where management is in the hands of Rachel Tweddle.
