GUISBOROUGH Choral Society held its popular Christmas concert before an audience bolstered by a large party from Camphill Village Trust at Botton Hall, a community for the learning disabled.

There was a lively and imaginative programme with a mix of traditional and modern carols and choruses from Handel’s Messiah.

The event was supported by Guisborough Citadel Salvation Army Band, led by bandmaster David White, which played a Christmas Intrada, a Choral Prelude by Bach and When a Child is Born by Dammico.

After the interval another medley of carols included Away in a Manger, the Coventry Carol and Christmas Miracle from Keith Manners.

The Messiah choruses were interspersed with readings spoken by Peter Limon. The choir, led by Angela Bennett, accompanied by Helen Kirk, sang popular carols with some measure of audience and band participation, which seemed to be universally enjoyed.

The popular Twelve Days of Christmas involved everybody in the hall and was a fitting end to an enjoyable performance.
