A SECOND-HALF hat-trick from Ben Darville kept Northallerton Police in the Hambleton Division One title race with what turned out to be a comfortable victory over a depleted Croft FC at Newby Wiske last Sunday.
Brave Croft resistance was finally breached on the hour.
Chris Pattison found Vernalls down the right and he pulled the ball back for Darville to beat Briggs from six yards.
Darville doubled his tally 15 minutes from time, following up to score after Briggs had parried a shot from Vernalls.
Nine minutes from time Liam Darville created the chance for his brother, Ben, to complete his hat-trick.
