NO CHANGE: Expenses and allowances for North Yorkshire county councillors are set to be pegged. An independent remuneration panel has recommended no increases for the next financial year. County councillors are paid £8,994 a year, with the leader being paid £24,704. Members of the executive get £13,896.
BIG WHEEL: York’s £53m big wheel, in the gardens of the city’s Royal York Hotel, could remain at its current site for another eight months. It’s current planning consent comes to an end shortly but Wheels Entertainments Ltd - which now operates the tourist attraction and other big wheels across the UK - has applied to keep it open until September 30.
