Until the A1 was built, the Great North Road ran through the village of Barton in North Yorkshire.
Here, in May 1955, there is a cafe where the village shop is today.
Above an archway to the left of the cafe is an unusual face which still adorns the wall. Can anyone tell us whose face it is?
