THIS is a gatehouse to where?
This picture may look familiar because it is believed to have hung for many years in Dr Ken Stephenson’s Netherlaw surgery on the corner of Stanhope Road and Duke Street, in Darlington.
But what does it show?
Dr Stephenson died last year, aged 94, and his family are intrigued by the location of this picture which must have meant something to him. He came from Bishop Auckland, so it seems likely that the house was somewhere in the south Durham area.
It could possibly be a tollhouse, and there are some noticeboards, imparting quite a lot of information, above the door.
Any clues as to the location, please email chris.lloyd@nne.co.uk.
