A FAMILY business will create 25 new jobs when its £2m flagship premises open in Middlesbrough.

MB Distribution, a specialist supplier to the home improvement industry, has received £247,000 funding from the Tees Valley Capital Grant, managed by the Tees Valley Combined Authority.

The grant was set up by the SSI Task Force to help local firms grow and create jobs and Baldwins accountants, which has worked with the business for 20 years, helped secure it.

MB Distribution has invested in more than three acres of land in East Middlesbrough, close to the A66, where it will build a 30,000 sq ft warehouse and retail outlet.

Mike Greenup, managing director, whose wife, Brenda, son, Michael, and daughter, Shirley, all work at the firm, said: “This expansion will take the business to the next level.

“We will never be a B&Q but we are a professional local company that is customer focused, knowledgeable and a supplier of quality home improvement products.”

He praised Andrew Rowe, a director at Baldwins, for his help.”He kept us on the right track, which ensured a smooth process resulting in a great offer. Without Andrew’s input, we wouldn’t have achieved such a successful outcome,” he said.

Amanda Skelton, chair of the SSI Task Force, said: “MB Distribution Ltd is a fantastic company and has shown the kind of ambition and drive that we want to continue to support. I am sure its expansion will be a big success.”

The company is a specialist supplier to both trade and retail companies and has a vast portfolio ranging from door and window hardware to internal and external PVC cladding and more.
