THE Christmas calf show at Leyburn Auction Mart saw David Smith, of Sutton-in-Craven, take both champion and reserve champion with a British Blue bull, which sold for £570 and a Charolais heifer for £410. The judge was David Albutt and sponsors were RDA Cattle Services, Genus Breeding, Volac & Barclays Bank.

A LOVELY show of prime lambs was before judge Ben Gray at Northallerton Christmas Primestock Show and after some deliberation he finally chose his champion in the Continental class of 43-47kg, the winner being Alistair Sutcliffe of Carlton in Cleveland for his pen of 43kg lambs which were purchased for £180 or £419p by Thompsons Butchers of Northallerton.

GRINTON artist John Hunter is celebrating a double success after having all of his submissions accepted for display at the Mall Galleries, London in July, and also the successful launch of a solo show at the RAF Club, Piccadilly, which features 27 of his original watercolour, gouache and pencil aviation artworks.
