ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14 THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (THORNABY ROAD INTERCHANGE TO STOCKTON ROAD INTERCHANGE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14 THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (THORNABY ROAD INTERCHANGE TO STOCKTON ROAD INTERCHANGE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on
the A66 Trunk Road, in the District of Stockton-on-Tees, in the County of Durham, to enable
carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Tuesday 3 April 2018 for 13 weeks, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works between 8pm and 6am, the:
(i) A66 westbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Stockton Road Interchange to the entry
slip road at the A1045 Thornaby Road Interchange, a distance of 3090 metres
(ii) A66 westbound entry slip road at Teesside Park Interchange;
(iii) A66 westbound exit slip road at Acklam Road Interchange;
(iv) A66 westbound exit slip road at Teesside Park Interchange;
(v) link road connecting the A19 southbound carriageway with the A66 westbound carriageway at
Stockton Road Interchange; and
(vi) link road connecting the A19 northbound carriageway with the A66 westbound carriageway at
Stockton Road Interchange;
(vii) layby situated adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway approximately 365 metres west
Acklam Road Interchange;
(viii) layby situated adjacent to the A19 southbound carriageway approximately 500 metres north of
Portrack Lane Interchange;
(ix) layby situated adjacent to the A19 northbound carriageway approximately 680 metres south of
Mandale Interchange; and
(x) layby situated adjacent to the A66 eastbound carriageway approximately 1420 metres east of
Acklam Road Interchange;
It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to impose a temporary
50mph speed restriction on the:
(xi) A66 westbound carriageway from the entry slip road at the A19 Stockton Road Interchange to
the exit slip road at the A135 Yarm Road Interchange, a distance of 3520 metres; and
(xii) slip roads and link roads mentioned in (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v);
During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
The Order comes into force on 2 April 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (ELTON INTERCHANGE TO ACKLAM ROAD INTERCHANGE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an
Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the District of Stockton-on-Tees, in County Durham, to enable
carriageway resurfacing and traffic sign installation works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Sunday 22 April 2018, for 14 weeks or until completed, and will
take place between 8pm and 6am.
The effect of the Order will be, at times during the works, to close the:
(i) A66 westbound carriageway from Acklam Road Interchange to Boathouse Lane Interchange,
a distance of 1577 metres;
(ii) A66 westbound carriageway from Boathouse Lane Interchange to Yarm Road Interchange,
a distance of 1470 metres;
(iii) A66 westbound carriageway from Yarm Road Interchange to Elton Interchange, a distance of
2914 metres;
(iv) westbound entry and eastbound exit slip road at Thornaby Interchange;
(v) westbound entry slip road at Boathouse Interchange; and
(vi) westbound entry slip road at Yarm Road Interchange;
It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 40mph speed restriction on the A66 westbound carriageway from the
A1045 Thornaby Road Interchange to 410 metres west of the A135 Yarm Road Interchange,
a distance of 2590 metres;
(ii) impose a 40mph speed restriction on the slip roads mentioned in iv, v and vi;
(iii) close the layby situated adjacent to the A19 southbound carriageway approximately 500 metres
north of the southbound exit slip road at Portack Lane Interchange;
(iv) close the layby situated adjacent to the A19 northbound carriageway approximately 680 metres
south of the entry slip road at Mandale Interchange, which will be used as an abnormal load
holding area;
(v) close the layby situated adjacent to the A19 eastbound carriageway approximately 1420 metres
east of the entry slip road at Stockton Road SRJ (Sadberge East);
(vi) layby situated adjacent to the westbound carriageway approximately 365 metres west of the
westbound exit slip road at Acklam Road Interchange;
(vii) layby situated adjacent to the eastbound carriageway approximately 505 metres east of the
eastbound exit slip road at Yarm Road Interchange;
(viii) layby situated adjacent to the westbound carriageway approximately 670 metres east of the
westbound exit slip road at Yarm Road Interchange
During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
Access will be maintained at all times to premises and property which are accessible from, and only from,
the A66. The Order comes into force on 21 April 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of
the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles)
and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in
connection with the said works or winter maintenance purposes).
