ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (LITTLE BURDON ROUNDABOUT TO YARM ROAD INTERCHANGE)

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (LITTLE BURDON ROUNDABOUT TO YARM ROAD INTERCHANGE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the District of
Stockton-on-Tees, to enable carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing, realignment of kerblines, relocation of utilities inspection chamber, reinstatement of road marking and traffic loop installation works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Monday 7 August 2017 for 7 weeks, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, between 8pm and 6am on Monday 7 August 2017 and any subsequent night thereafter until the work has been completed, to:
(i) close the A66 eastbound carriageway from Little Burden Roundabout to the entry slip road at Yarm Road Interchange, a distance of 11450 metres;

(ii) close the A66 eastbound entry and exit slip roads at Long Newton Interchange and Elton Interchange;

(iii) close the A66 eastbound exit slip road at Yarm Road Interchange;

(iv) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A66 westbound carriageway at its junction with Darlington Road;

(v) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A66 eastbound carriageway at its junction with Darlington Road, Stockton Road, Back Lane and Sandy Leas Lane.

It will be necessary, 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 50mph and 30mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound carriageway from 375 metres east of Stockton Road Junction to 525 metres east of the entry slip road at Yarm Road Interchange, a distance of 9340 metres;

(ii) impose a temporary 50mph and 30mph speed restriction on the A66 westbound carriageway from 615 metres east of the exit slip road at Yarm Road Interchange to 2050 metres west of the entry slip road at Long Newton Interchange, a distance of 9340 metres;

(iii) close the layby adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway approximately 500 metres east of Little Burdon Roundabout;

(iv) close the laybys adjacent to the A66 eastbound carriageway approximately 1500 metres east and 800 metres west of Long Newton Interchange; and

(v) close the footpaths connecting the A66 eastbound carriageway with the A66 westbound carriageway approximately 1000 metres east and 2000 metres east of Long Newton overbridge.

It will also be necessary, between 8pm on Friday 11 August 2017 and 6am on Monday 14 August 2017 and between the same times over subsequent weekends until completed, to:
(i) close the A66 westbound carriageway from 10 metres west of the entry slip road at Yarm Road Interchange to 1050 metres west of the entry slip road at Long Newton Interchange, a distance of 7340 metres; during which times traffic will be diverted onto

the opposite carriageway using a contraflow system;
(ii) close the A66 westbound entry slip road at Yarm Road Interchange; and

(iii) close the westbound entry and exit slip roads at Elton Interchange and Long Newton.

During the carriageway, slip road and junction closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available.
Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works, to anyone engaged in the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and property which are accessible from, and only from, the A66. The Order comes into force on 6 August 2017 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
