THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 60) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A1 (M) Motorway, in County Durham, to enable carriageway resurfacing and replacement/refresh of road marking and stud works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on 17 September 2020 for 3 weeks, or until completed, and will take place between 8pm and 6am.

The works are expected to start on 17 September 2020 for 3 weeks, or until completed, and will take place between 8pm and 6am.
The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works, the A1 (M) northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 60 (Bradbury Interchange), during which times suitably signed alternative routes will be available.
It will also be necessary to impose, at times during the works, a temporary:
(i) 50mph speed restriction on the A1 (M) northbound carriageway from 2005 metres south of the exit slip road at Junction 60 to 470 metres north of the entry slip road at Junction 60, a distance of 3065 metres;

(ii) 50mph speed restriction on the A1(M) southbound carriageway from 2005 metres north of the exit slip road at Junction 60 to 370 metres south of the entry slip road at Junction 60, a distance of 2790 metres; and

(iii) 40mph speed restriction on the A1 (M) and A689 Bradbury Interchange Roundabout.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).
