Valerie MARGETT

MARGETT Valerie (née Jackson) Died suddenly at home in Thirsk on June 24, aged 79. Born in Scunthorpe during an air-raid in September 1940, the only child of John Jackson, a steel-worker, and his wife Bronwen. She loved children and music, and qualified as a primary school teacher at Matlock Training College, with a diploma from the London College of Music. She taught in Scunthorpe, London and Malaya. Valerie married David in 1972 and after a year in London, the couple moved to Thirsk. She taught at local primary schools, and gave private piano tuition for many years. She is survived by husband David, son John, daughter Jane and granddaughter Isla. She was much loved and will be hugely missed.
