THE Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society sets out to present JM Barrie’s classic tale of Peter Pan, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong does, as the accident prone thesps embark on a thrilling adventure to Neverland. Following a smash hit success with The Play That Goes Wrong, which now returns to the West End, Mischief Theatre Company (winners of the 2014 WhatsOnStage Best New Comedy Award) are back at the Civic Theatre, bringing to the stage their riotous new spin on a family favourite. In Graphic Detail, Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate, opens on Saturday

A JOURNEY through prints and drawings in the Harrogate Fine Art Collection. The work on show is striking in its diversity, including a large-scale expressionist colour print by John Hoyland, ink drawings by Victoria Brookland, watercolour views of Nidderdale by David Rose, architectural drawings of the Harrogate that never was and Bernard Evans’ richly coloured studies of Yorkshire abbeys. It’s also an opportunity to view recent additions, including watercolour studies and a new painting by London-based artist Sarah Pickstone, winner of the 2012 John Moores painting prize, acquired with the support of the Contemporary Art Society. Runs until June 21.

Darlington Piano Society presents Ivana Gavri?, Dolphin Centre, on Sunday, 3-5pm

AFTER her outstanding recital for the piano society in March 2014, there was no hesitation in inviting Ivana to return to give a recital in the current season. Her recital reflects this success with a first half given over to works by Grieg, including the Ballade which Ivana regards as one of Grieg’s masterpieces for solo piano. The second half includes Schubert’s Sonata D784 and a selection of Rachmaninov preludes. This recital gives the audience another opportunity to purchase tickets for the recital of works by JS Bach and Beethoven being given by Angela Hewitt on March 15 in memory of David Robson.
