ONIONS are so easy to grow and they make a great fill-in veg when much of your vegetable plot has been left vacant after your main harvests.
They’ll also be finished by next May and June, when you’re likely to need the space for other veg. Either sow them now in rows on the plot to thin out and transplant in October, or alternatively leave it until next month when you can buy overwintering onion sets. They won’t grow huge, but the idea is that you pull them up as you need them and leave the rest in the ground as they don’t store well.
